The Moscow Metro: an Underground Art Museum
Besides being a very efficient type of transportation, as it carries more than 8 million people every day, the Moscow metro stations are historical sites and even art museums at the same time.
Construction started in the 1930s and still continues despite there being already more than 212 stations.
The design of the stations is so unique as it was built as a palace for regular people: many of the stations are decorated with granite and marble constructions, as well as mosaics, bas-reliefs and other gorgeous detailing.
